For my oral communication, I included the PowerPoint summarizing what I wrote on the documented essay about violent video games and children. Since video games is a popular form of entertainment especially among adolescents it is appealing to talk about it and its influence on them. I was originally going to research on a different topic but I felt that the topic won’t have enough sources to back up my claim and I thought of a second option and I was interested in continuing researching about video games and children.

The way I directed my audience’s attention is by providing them the 3 different factors that show a significant influence on children when playing violent video games: type of video game, gender, and personality trait. I also included the two different studies that proved violent video games do have a negative effect on children. Because this was a very formal and everything was based off on research studies, it is important for me to include the most accurate information on my slides. Having that visual to assist me on my 5 minutes presentation of this topic organized my thoughts pattern and helped me to stay on topic as much as I can.

As an oral communicator, I think having visual presentation to address my thoughts and lessons will work the best, especially in my future career as a teacher. Also, I felt that I have improved in this oral presentation from the visual analysis because of my preparation. I practiced speaking to myself couple of times before class just so I can omit any thought that won’t be necessary to mention during the speech.
