Assignment #3: Rhetorical Analysis

I have selected the topic to be the one I am most interested about and eager to find out what the writer has to say about the issues. The essay that I’ve selected to analyze was “AIDS, Inc.” by Helen Epstein. The essay was clear to its argument. Overall, I am very happy about the decision I made regarding choosing the article because the it is very straightforward and I can easily comprehend what the writer is trying to convey in her essay.

I have kept my thesis from the beginning throughout my analysis. While reading the essay, I have taken important notes on the two main points that Epstein has to say. The two AIDS and HIV prevention programs in Africa; loveLife (a South Africa’s prevention program) and Inkanyezi (an Uganda’s prevention program) which she compared throughout her paper. I also mark on the essay on some of the important points that I can refer back to when I start my rhetorical analysis.

While revising my rough draft, I have refer back to EW and fix my MLA format which I didn’t do well in the previous assignment. I took my peer’s advice on the lack of rhetorical analyze on my paper because I included most the summary portion of the essay instead of focusing mainly on the effectiveness of the author’s writing.

My approach to this assignment was reading carefully about the author section and getting the most  about the background information of the piece of writing I am going to analyze as I can. I also read the questions provided in Questions for Critical Reading  so I can stay focus on the purpose of my reading is and not get distracted from other thought while reading it.
