Arline Votruba is a charismatic optimism enthusiast. She has traversed a variety of academic settings while studying in undergrad, transferring from Quinsigamond Community College to Endicott College, later transferring to Keene State College where she earned her BA in English. During junior year of high school, the ambitious teenager was eager to start studying at the university level and sought out alternative programs to finish high school. She graduated from Quabbin Regional High School in 2013, with 27 college credits because of the Dual Enrollment Program offered at QCC. For the first time in her 18 year life, Arline moved to Endicott College in Beverly, Ma for Fall Semester 2014. Although she started her studies in Secondary Ed with a Minor in English, when she transferred to Keene State, she also altered her course of study to major in English with a concentration in Literature and Creative Writing. Attending college courses made Arline realize her passion for higher education, with a new goal in sight, Arline pursued a course of study that would prepare her for a life in academia. She graduated summa cum laude in May 2016 with plans to begin her Ma in English at Iowa State University in Fall 2016. Arline spent 9 weeks in Europe and Africa traveling many cities she’d only ever dreamt of seeing in the summer of 2016. She was able to continue her engagement with education in a totally new learning environment by exploring unfamiliar places without any friends or family from home by her side. When she returned back to the U.S., she spent 3 days in her small hometown before packing up to start her next educational trek at ISU.
Arline currently studies at Iowa State University and teaches communication courses such a ENG 150 and ENG 250. She will graduate with an English MA in Spring 2018 before pursuing a PhD.
